Additionally I got the chance to check out Jimmy Eat World at the Rust Best in East Moline, IL. They are out supporting their new album “Surviving.” The new album is fantastic and I really this there is a decent shot that this album could catapult Jimmy Eat World back into the main stream with songs like “555.” The show itself was really exciting. It’s not often that fans get excited to hear new music live from a band that’s been around for 20 some years and has a deep catalog of hits. Jimmy Eat World played more songs off of “Surviving” than they did any other album and the fans, myself included ate it up. My favorite song off the new album is “Criminal Energy” and it was great to hear live. My favorite Jimmy Eat World song of all time is “Blister” and they played that one as well. Several songs off of “Bleed American” made the set along with “Futures” and “Chase the Light.

Jimmy Eat World is the ultimate compromise bands among my friends. That may sound like a back handed compliment, but it isn’t. Music isn’t supposed to be about competition. There’s no such thing as the best only favorites. The crowd was very eclectic. My group of friends does not share my taste in music. I’m more of a hard rock/metal guy and they are more indie rock emo fans. The crowd was filled with all of us and then some. It was a great sight to see. If you get a chance to see Jimmy Eat World on this run of tour dates I highly recommend doing so. They’re a band I won’t want to miss next time they come through town.
